My Awesome Mom
So I’m in the kitchen with the wisest woman I know—my mom. She’s complaining about my waking-up habits, but I know she means well. She is, without a doubt, the most wonderful woman I know: kind, caring, and loving. Her most beautiful trait is her understanding nature.
Lately, I’ve been lacking sleep; I literally fall asleep at 5 PM. When I finally told my mom why I woke up late, she said only two things can keep you awake: when God wants to talk to you and when you have controlling thoughts. It’s true; the most dominant reason I lack sleep is due to my controlling thoughts. My mom advises that if I can’t sleep, I should read the Bible and pray. This advice has been a game-changer for me.
My controlling thoughts are often about my boyfriend. I tend to be insecure and hold on too tightly to the people I love. I worry when he has a problem I can’t solve, and when we don’t talk, my mind races with weird thoughts: Will he betray me? Is he happy with me? Does he think about me? These worries keep me up at night.
I also worry about my future. With this pandemic, I wonder if it will affect my studies. Will I ever return to school and finish my degree? If God grants us grace and we are spared from this pandemic, will I get good grades? Will I find a job? And if I don’t get a job, will I be able to innovate with what I’ve learned and rely on self-employment? I am genuinely worried about what lies ahead.
Understanding My Worries
I often struggle with controlling thoughts, particularly concerning my relationship and future. Questions swirl in my head: Is my boyfriend happy? What will my career look like post-pandemic? These worries can be overwhelming, making it difficult to find peace.
When I confided in my mom, she offered invaluable advice: "Surrender your worries to God and trust in His plan." Her faith has always been a guiding light in our family, reminding me of the strength we draw from our beliefs.
As the youngest, my sisters are significantly older—fifteen and ten years, respectively. I didn’t grow close with them since they were teenagers while I was still a child, so I missed out on the girl talk about organizing things and responsibilities. That’s why my mom is teaching me how to be a responsible woman today.
I can’t claim to be responsible, especially since I wake up late and hardly make my bed or fold my clothes. My mom reminds me that a responsible woman should always have a plan, and waking up early is part of that plan.
That night, I decided to give my thoughts to God, sharing my worries and listening to my mom. I am in the process of maturing, and I hope to get it right.
I truly appreciate my mom; I share everything with her. She is my best friend, always ready to listen when nobody else can. She offers me valuable advice and even listens to my worries about my boyfriend and friends. She teaches me to have faith in God and is always supportive. No one in this world has a mom like mine. One day, I hope God blesses me enough to take care of her.
All my worries will be taken care of by God. I have dreams, but mostly I dream about making my mom proud, letting her know she is a warrior who has given me purpose. Looking at her, I just want an opportunity to reward her because she truly deserves the best. She prays for us and takes care of us, even though we’re old enough to manage on our own. She supports us without judgment and corrects our mistakes with love. Even on her bad days, I appreciate her deeply. She is my hero, and I hope to make her proud.
My mom always says that no dream is too big; the bigger you dream, the better. I needed someone to believe in me, and she does. She believes in me and prays for me. I really don’t know where I would be without her. Even when I make mistakes, she showers me with love. She’s always there for me when the world seems blind to my existence. She shows me love, care, and comfort. Wherever I go, I know my mom has my back. She taught me the most important aspect of life: faith in God. For that, I am eternally grateful and ready to conquer the world.
You taught me that challenges only make you stronger. I can overcome everything life throws at me. If I am strong, there’s a woman behind it. If I am capable, there’s a woman behind it. If I succeed, there’s a woman behind it. If I overcome failure or any struggle, there’s a woman behind it all. I am so thankful for all the love and wisdom she has poured into me. She is truly a hero because the world isn’t ready for me.
A Journey of Growth
Being the youngest sibling, I often felt disconnected from my older sisters. They had their own lives while I was still a child. Thankfully, my mom took on the role of my mentor, teaching me responsibility and life skills. She emphasizes the importance of having a plan—something as simple as waking up early can set the tone for a productive day.
As I listen to her stories of overcoming life’s challenges, I’m inspired to embrace my journey. My mom’s experiences—from being a hairdresser to becoming a teacher—highlight the resilience we all possess.
Reflecting on Our Bond
Our conversations are more than just talks; they’re lessons in love and support. My mom is my best friend, always there to listen without judgment. She encourages me to dream big, reminding me that challenges only make us stronger.
